It is hard not to compare yourself to other people – especially those who excel in your chosen field. I look around me and see loads of brilliant writers and some very successful bloggers and I begin to compare myself and realize that I’m nowhere in their league. Sometimes, I get caught up with reading the several ‘how to’ guides that are available…. ‘how to write better’, ‘how to blog better’, ‘how to up your Facebook fans’, ‘how to lowering your Alexa rank‘……… The list goes on. It all gets confusing and I flirt with giving it all up…
But then I begin to wonder – Why do I really want to write? Why do I really want to blog? The answer comes back to me: to share my thoughts, to share what inspires me, to connect with people.
What’s Under That Floppy Hat?
That answer was there all the time – in my head. But I was wearing a large, floppy hat that hid it all. The floppy hat of comparison, the floppy hat of self-doubt, the floppy hat of confusion.
The cause of the confusion prevailing in your mind that weakens your thoughts is the false belief there is a power or powers outside you greater than the power within you.~John McDonald
Today, I’m pushing that hat off my head and re-claiming my unique thoughts, ideas, inspirations and beliefs. I’m pledging to get back to ‘me’ blogging here.
Are you wearing a large floppy hat too that’s preventing you from being your wonderfully unique self?
