Persistence (n) : Firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition. (Oxford Language)
March has arrived, and with it, a renewed commitment to persistence, well-being, and the power of rituals. This month, I am not just maintaining momentum—I am strengthening it. I am embracing my rituals, adding new ones, and staying deeply focused on my health and overall well-being.

Persistence for a Healthier Life : Strong In March 2025
Rituals are anchors, keeping us centered and aligned with our goals. Morning routines, quiet evenings, even small habits—they all make a big difference. This March, I’m making my rituals a priority.
Besides my usual routines, I’m incorporating new rituals to enhance my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. I’ll integrate small but significant changes—like better movement, nutrition, or mindfulness—into my daily routine to become healthier and more balanced.
I now know that resilience is essential for achieving good health. Despite challenges, I’ll remain strong and adaptable. I’m turning setbacks into growth. This month, I’m committed to showing up every day, regardless, and proving that I’m persistent and resilient.
A reminder that your private, everyday creative practice is your resistance. No one can take it away from you. – Sophie Nichols

Small Changes and Additions In March
Joy Journaling – Inspired by Alex Elle, I’m attempting to change up my gratitude practice a bit. Joy journaling is the practice of writing down moments of joy each day. It’s about noticing the little things that make you happy—a kind word, a good meal, some quiet time. Just little daily notes to remember joy’s always around, no pressure!
#100DayProject – I’ve started a 100 day project of mindful writing. You can read more about this here.
Reading a poem a day by Mary Oliver – Amy Parilee Rickards has put together a plan -A Year Of Mary Oliver – so every day I read a poem by my favourite poet!
Lenten Reflections – Since it’s the season of Lent, I’m doing reflections from Sacred Space (a Jesuit site) and from Kate Bowler – spending short reflective moments every evening.
Reminder to self in March 2025: Stay focused, keep at it, develop a routine, and allow yourself to grow.
Wishing you a month filled with resilience, renewal, and intention!

Word of the year is like a ‘mantra’, Corinne – Mantra, according to the scriptures means a verbal utterance that is repeated several times by meditating on its meaning or message – later when we utter the word/phrase even casually, it creates verbal waves that have a tremendous impact on our thoughts and actions. Actually, this essay has two more words worth becoming mantras – ‘persistence’ and ‘resilience’.
That’s exactly right, Madhavi. My word ‘strong’ is a mantra – but I’m attempting to translate it into something actionable every month.
GREAT WOTY!!
Thank you, Barb. I like your word too.
So many fun things in this post and so many valuable resources to stay happy and focussed. Wishing you a happy March ahead :-).
Your resolution to being strong inspires me, Corinne! Being persistent and resilient are two more powerful words, I want to assimilate.
Thank you, Madhavi. It doesn’t always translate into action, but I do feel that our WOTY pushes us forward.
It’s such a coincidence that just this morning I was wondering how to add joy to my day whiich at present seems like a succession of chores that I hate. Joy journaling seems a nice way to remind myself that joy hides in everyday routines as well.
Mary Oliver is one of my favourite poets too. Maybe I should read a poem a day too, to add joy to my day!
Mary Oliver’s poems are certainly a way to add to our joy. I find my joy journal often has Lucky related stuff in it! 😉
I love a good ritual. I’ve been trying to write a little each day in my Ripple journal this month (my one word) but it hasn’t actually happened every day. ha. But that’s okay. How wonderful that you are reading a Mary Oliver poem a day! I always have the best of intentions to read more poetry, but it’s hard for me to get in that habit.
I have to do an internet search of what a Ripple Journal is, Lisa, but it sounds interesting. With Mary Oliver’s writing, each poem seems more like a time for inner reflection than anything.
About rituals not happening every day, I tell myself that the intention counts too and am learning to give myself grace on days when I don’t show up for a particular ritual.
It’s inspiring to see how you use your word of the year as a guiding force each month, Corinne. I had forgotten about mine over the past few weeks, but journaling about it this morning brought it back into focus. Wishing you a wonderful March filled with the rituals that matter most to you, Corinne.
I use these posts as a reminder to myself, Vini. But you are showing up so regularly and so strongly that your WOTY is being actioned! ♥
I love routine – I am trying to control the routine, but so often the threads of it slip away in the responsibilities that seem to snowball no matter how much I organize. I am doing Michele Morin’s Lenten devotional this season. Praying that your routine remain firmly in your spirit and schedule this Lenten season.
I think we all can sympathise with you, Maryleigh. I wish you a meaningful Lenten journey too. Thank you for stopping by to leave such a meaningful comment!
