7 Ways To Attract More Readers To Your Blog

There are various things I’ve been working on during my break. I’ve done a bit of research on attracting more readers to a blog. There are lots of ways in which you can increase your readership. Here are 7 ways to attract more readers to your blog.

7 Ways To Attract More Readers To Your Blog

Create more content

The more content there is on your blog, the greater the chance there is of someone stumbling across your content. Make sure that you’re consistently publishing new posts. Try to get into a regular routine if you can.

Focus on creating more original content

If your content is identical to a thousand other blogs, it’s likely to be drowned out. Try to focus on creating original content that is going to stand you apart from your competitors. This could include putting a personal twist on your content by adding your own photos and stories, or it could include carrying out your own original research.

Think about your titles

Snappy eye-catching titles can help you to attract readers. Avoid generic ‘how to’ titles where possible. You should also avoid lengthy titles that are harder to skim-read. At the same time, try to avoid clickbait  – the content needs to live up to the title, otherwise readers will get annoyed and likely won’t return to your blog.

Share posts on social media

You can attract lots of new readers by sharing your posts on social media. Start by setting up pages on Facebook and Twitter. Whenever you publish a new post, you can then share in on your social media pages. Eventually you may start to build a following on your social media pages – this can be a great way to build loyal readers.

Add keywords to your content

Keywords are a big part of SEO. By adding specific keywords to your posts, you can increase the chance of them ranking more highly on search engines whenever people search for related terms. Try to incorporate keywords naturally into content – keyword stuffing may have the opposite effect and cause your posts to rank lower.

Invest in some advertising

It could be worth paying some money to advertise your blog in order to increase its reach. On social media, it’s possible to boost posts – this displays them as adverts so that your posts are seen by more social media users. You can also look into PPC (pay-per-click) advertising – these are adverts found across the internet that display until a certain amount of people have clicked on them. You can manage your own advertising campaigns or you can hire a PPC agency. Consider which option is best for you.

Allow guests to contribute content

Allowing guest bloggers to contribute content can be a way of increasing content and potentially a way of increasing readers. Every guest blogger that writes content on your site is likely to share that content with their friends and followers. As a result, you can build exposure.

  1. The new look of your blog is cool, Corinne! I loved it. 🙂
It’s been ages since i shared anything on Metanoia. I now usually write once a week on Fictionista . Somehow, I find the excitement has vanished from blogging, for me. I miss those earlier blogging days when we didn’t need to worry about the statistics. All we wanted was to read what others shared and how relatable we found it to be.
At times, I want to work really hard at getting my blog back up there, but at others, I want to take it off the net, altogether! I am really losing all my enthusiasm and I don’t know what to do! 🙁

  2. Hi Corinne
Started a new blog on cats. Took me a long time to find a good reason and enough material to figure it was feasible to create. Traffic is definitely an issue and I have to build up a following again. Budget doesn’t allow for paid advertising so I have to do it the hard way. But I feel this is for the long haul. Got 2 new characters (aka Siamese kittens) to help me never run out of material to write about. They are always getting in some kind of trouble. With over 50 years raising cats I have a ton of information to share. When I had a blog back in 2010 to 2014 I had a decent following, but had to give it up. Today seems a little harder to get a following. I was reading that you need at least a 100 pages to get organic traffic, so that is what I am working on. Paid advertising is a mixed bag of good and bad. If you can’t afford it upfront it could kill the budget before you are of the ground to even try to make money.
