Intentional in 2024 - Word of the Year

Intentional In 2024

I played around with a lot of words as 2023 ended. Even on 1 January 2024, I thought my word would be ‘rhythm’, but another word that I had briefly considered seemed to push through! So Intentional in 2024 is what I will work on.

InTENtional in 2024

Inspired by Mary Ann Em Radmacher‘s book ‘Live With Intention’ I decided to look at the ‘ten’ in InTENtional!

In 2024, I will

  1. Have intentional routines
  2. Relate intentionally
  3. Intionally make time for leisure and play
  4. Create with intention
  5. Read with intention
  6. Intentionally focus on health, exercise and eating right.
  7. Intentional consumption and purchases
  8. Be intentional on social media
  9. Be intentionally philanthropic
  10. Be intentional in advocacy and activism

TEN every day

I have further broken this down into 10 things I want to do every day.

  1. Affirmation
  2. Morning Pages
  3. Scripture reading/ reflection and prayer
  4. Blogging/ Social Media – Creating, Sharing, Reading, Commenting
  5. Reading
  6. Journaling / Writing / Haiku
  7. Exercise
  8. Gratitude Notes
  9. Learning/ Progress notes
  10. Leisure – Music, movies, taking photographs, knitting, colouring, art journaling.

I can honestly say that I’ve not been so organized about my word as I am this year. Looking forward to see how this plays out in my life. Monthly themes and updates based on my word of the year will be shared here and on Instagram.

Please let me know if you’ve chosen a word of the year – I’d love to know more about your choice of word. If there’s anything I can do to support you on your journey through it, let me know.

My New Year wish for you, dear reader.

  1. Hi Corinne – a great choice of word and I love how you’ve “intentionally” broken it down into do-able actions. I also really liked your quote at the end and have pinned it (I’m a huge pinterest fan for quotes and pretty pictures). Looking forward to sharing another year of blogging with you 🙂

  2. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead. This is a great word for the year. I really love the way you have broken it down into 10 things ot be intentional about and the daily 10. I am going to use that for my day as well. Thanks for being my inspiration and pulling me back to writing and blogging. God Bless!

    1. Thank you, Sunita. This came with quite a bit of reflection and some inspiration from the book I mentioned. Looking forward to reading more of your writing in 2024.

  3. I like your choice of the WOTY, Corinne, and the idea of making certain things a part of your daily routine. I too have made a timetable of all that I need to do every single day. And, I have realised that making such a timetable, or a list of things to do daily, gets us into the habit of doing those things, enjoy doing those things and learn a lot from doing those things. Also, improve in the areas where we need to.

    1. Thank you, Shilpa. Although I’ve included all these things as routine, I’m staying away from making a time table, because I know I won’t or can’t stick to a time. I am attempting to make sure I do these things every day though.

  4. Wonderfully done Corinne. I love how you’ve broken down your word into actionable ideas. That’s a sure shot way of ensuring you stick with your WOTY. I haven’t settled on a word but the year promises big changes and I’m kind of looking forward to it even though there’s a little bit of apprehension.

    1. Thanks, Tulika. I’m learning to be better at this – having a routine but yet being flexible.
Good luck with your new adventure! ♥

  5. I love your word for 2024, Corinne. When I was in double minds about my word, Discipline, I made a list of words to collect my thoughts. Intentional was one of the words in my list. It’s such a powerful word, isn’t it?
I like how you have set the day to day goals with the word. That’s a great idea. 2024 is going to be an awesome year for you with such a fantastic word guiding you every day, Corinne.

    1. Yes, this time we both seemed to be a bit confused with the word choice, Vini. I’m realizing that being intentional makes me more disciplined! Thank you for your wishes – they mean a lot. Hugs.

  6. Such a great choice of word, Corinne! You definitely have it very organised this year and I know, from experience, that when we write things down, we have so much more clarity about our intentions about how we would like to reach our goals. I’m sure you also intend to enjoy the process of seeing them materialise and I would love to see how you make room for them over the coming days/weeks/months! Best of luck with the #WOTY, Corinne! May 2024 bring you all that you wish for, and more. 🙂

    1. I’m usually not so organized, Esha, but somehow I think I’ve finally grown up at last! 😉
Wishing you everything wonderful in 2024 – especially space to create! ♥

  7. I love the post. Intentional was my WOTY in 2022 and I wasn’t as successful as I wanted to be. I think you are off on the best foot with your 10 intentions and especially with the 10 things to do everyday. I’m looking forward to following your journey as you be intentional…
