Intentional in 2024 - Word of the Year

Intentionally Creative In May

Having had four busy months, and trying my best to be intentional through it all, I decided to focus on being creative in May.

Being creative is like going through different seasons. Sometimes you’re planting seeds by gathering ideas and learning new things. Other times, you’re harvesting what you’ve grown by finishing projects and showing off your work. Both parts of this cycle are important.

In May, I’m going to focus on the first part – gathering ideas and learning new things.

Intentionally Creative In May

I want to be intentionally creative. This means I

  • actively and purposefully engage in the process of generating novel and imaginative ideas, solutions, or expressions.
  • consciously direct my efforts towards fostering creativity, whether in art, problem-solving, innovation, or any other endeavor.
  • set aside dedicated time for brainstorming, experiment with different approaches, seek inspiration from various sources, and am open to taking risks and exploring unconventional ideas.
  • find a deliberate balance between structure and spontaneity, allowing for both focused effort and moments of inspiration to flourish.

I’ll be reading, learning, reflecting and making notes of how to create a new way of looking at my own creativity and its expression.

I will be reading these two books : Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman and Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon. (affilate links).

“Creativity requires input, and that’s what research is. You’re gathering material with which to build.”

  1. That is such a wonderful idea, Corinne. To focus on things that will help you think differently and create something new, learn something new that will contribute towards your overall growth. I hope you are enjoying a creative May! <3

    1. Thanks, Shilpa. It’s been a bit up and down – the heat didn’t help, but I am absorbing new ideas and learning things, even if I’m not exactly ‘creating’.

  2. I like your theme of being intentionally creative, Corinne. Your action plans sound wonderful. Steal like an artist is a great book. I hope you are enjoying your creativity filled May. ❤️
