Welcome to 2025! What do you want your year to look like? By the end of 2025, what will you be glad to have accomplished? What is something that the highest version of myself will do this year? What will my every day routine look like? These are questions I’ve been asking myself since the start of December. After a lot of reflection and experimenting with many word choices, I’ve chosen ‘STRONG’ as my word of the year.
Most appropriately, January is said to have been named after Janus, the god of beginnings, and derived from ianua, meaning ‘door’. I’m determined to throw open the doors to 2025 with openness, gratitude and intentionality.
Looking Back On 2024 to Find Strong
I thought I had my word by mid-December. I had reflected and looked at what I thought I needed. The word I came up with was ‘ease’. But something was just not sitting right.
Then I came across this episode of Meridith Hite Estevez’s podcast – Word of the Year 2025. It helped me to look back on 2024 to find what I really needed to focus on in 2025.
In this introspective journey, one word surfaced repeatedly, capturing the essence of what I want to cultivate: strong. This describes the kind of person I want to be and the path I want to take this year. Choosing “strong” as my word of the year is a powerful declaration of intent, fueling my drive and inspiring me daily.
The past year, there were some unexpected trials that tested my resilience. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, questioning my ability to bounce back. It was during these times that I realized the importance of inner strength. I want “strong” to remind me that though I might fail, or find obstacles to my goals and plans, I can get back up every time I do. By focusing on building mental, physical and emotional resilience, I can navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and grace.

How I’ll focus on Strong
Like I’ve been doing for the past few years and more intentionally in 2024, I will have monthly themes. I have planned them out, but I want also to be intuitive and flexible in choosing each theme at the start of the month. There are 12 daily rituals that I am working on practicing throughout the year. I will share these with you in my post for my January theme.
I’d love to know what your word of the year is, if you have such a practice. Wishing you a year of peace, joy, good health and everything you wish for yourself and your family.

Strong is a great word, Corinne and I’m looking forward to your themes. I was going to pick organize for my word but I had to be more specific and I went with Wips. I know there are a million more words more important than the one I chose but those works in progress are really bugging me. Silly to say, but they’re unfinished and it makes me feel unfinished.
I gave a listen to the Podcast and added it to my list. I need to make it a daily listen.
Corinne, I know that you will be strong and remain strong throughout the New Year and in those times that you’re not feelin’ it, we’ll be here reminding you of just how strong you really are. You got this. No worries. 🙂
Love this idea. Planning to snatch it for the year and thanks for sharing!
What an inspiring word choice! ‘Strong’ suits my idea of you, Corinne.
I also went with a different word from my earlier choice. I thought ‘Kindness’ would help me in 2025, but in January the word ‘Show up’ made a lot more sense to how I want my 2025 to be.
Wish you a fabulous year ahead, Corinne.
Sending you best wishes Corinne for the new year. I am sure your WOTY will work for you. Setting an intention is half the battle won.
Ooh, what a great word, Corinne! Who among us couldn’t use more strength? I’ll look forward to reading how you’ll practice it in the coming months. My word is Ripple. I asked AI to give me a 12-month plan with journal prompts and activities and it actually spit out a pretty good plan. 🙂 I’ll modify it some, but it’s got me started anyway!
What a powerful word, Corinne!
I pray that 2025 finds you stronger in every area of your life and that you may prevail over every odd that comes your way!
Wishing you the very best in 2025, Corinne!
Strong is a great word, Corinne, though I do see you as someone who has immense inner strength and resilience already. I can’t wait to hear more about your themes and daily rituals.
