Walk With A Turtle

Imagine taking a walk with a turtle.

I’d have to slow my pace down. Almost to a crawl. I begin to wonder what feelings it would evoke in me.

Impatience. Frustration. Restlessness. Feeling like I’m wasting my time. Time that I can use more productively.

Walk With A Turtle

What if I saw this walk as an opportunity, not a punishment? What if being forced to slow down gives me a chance to observe better? To see things I’d otherwise miss when walk at a fast pace.

What if I stopped running around, chasing my own tail, and spent more time pausing? Perhaps, I’d have more time to remember where I’ve been, observe where I am, and be more focused on where I am going.

I need to pause. I need to take in the beauty of the world around me. Life. Nature. Take time to breath. To observe. To savour. To remember that life is not a race. It’s a journey. To be taken step by step. Slowly and meaningfully.

Walk with a turtle
Let him lead you
Take time to pause
To behold the world's beauty
Stop and smell the roses
Soak in the present moment
Think back on the past
Look forward to the future.
View the world in slow motion
And listen to your heart
Listen to that still small voice
Calling you back to yourself
Telling you to slow down
Reminding you that
Life is lived in moments
Make each one meaningful.

Take a walk with a turtle. And behold the world in pause.
