5 Super Ways to Boost Your Concentration Levels

Do you find yourself feeling zoned out and unable to concentrate more often than you’d like? Here are 5 super effective and actionable ways to boost your concentration levels.

#1 Turn Off the Distractions

This one may seem obvious, but it works magically (to say the least) when it comes to helping improve your ability to concentrate. So whatever it is that your mind wavers off to when you’re working on something super important- your email notifications, your WhatsApp messenger or anything else- just turn it off and focus!

#2 Practise Mindfulness

Mindfulness may be a term that may seem to have sprung up recently, but yes, it has definitely taken things up a notch. Practising mindfulness on a daily basis can have a very positive impact- it can leave you feeling less distracted, more grounded and at peace, reduce anxiety and stress, help you tackle fatigue and exhaustion that comes with doing too many things together, and yes, definitely improves your work quality too.

#3 Learn to Meditate

Meditation is one of the most powerful techniques that teaches us concentration and helps us enhance it. Make it a point to meditate for at least 15 minutes everyday to recharge your brain and make it stronger, able to focus better on particular tasks and tune out the unnecessary. Doing this also has many other benefits- meditation has been known to strengthen the immune system, improve digestion, boost circulation and do so much more.

#4 Get your Dose of Green

Yep! A lot of us tend to underestimate the healing powers of being in touch with nature, and if you’re one of those, you’ll be surprised at how much of a positive difference it can have on your life (and concentration levels to be specific). Many studies have shown that exposure to natural surroundings and being close to plants can be linked to better productivity and concentration levels.

#5 Take a Break

Counterproductive much? Not at all. Most of us have glorified being busy, and don’t realize that those constant hours of grinding are going to affect us in more ways than one and will eventually lead to burnout. Tuning out the distractions and focusing on a single task can be exhausting, especially in the initial stage, so make sure you give yourself the much needed breaks. Take short, frequent breaks in between works to replenish your energy levels and come back to work more focused.

  1. These are useful tips. Until a few years ago, there was a huge emphasis on multi-tasking and now the emphasis has shifted away from multitasking to mindfulness. Life gets easier when the focus is on going slow with lesser distractions.

    1. You’re right. I used to pride myself on my ability to multi-task until I realized that’s it quite draining and doesn’t really allow you to feel the enjoyment of doing things slowly and mindfully.
