Just Begin Every Day
Blogging, Writing & Creativity - Intentional in 2024

Just Begin Every Day

I’ve shared my Word of the Year for 2024 is Intentional. As is my practice, I also have a monthly theme built around this word. My theme for January is : Just Begin Every Day.

Just Begin Every Day

I’m on a journey to be more intentional and mindful in my daily life while allowing room for spontaneity. Leaving space for things to flow, I’m attempting to approach each day intentionally and mindfully.

I’ve discovered that sticking to a fixed schedule doesn’t work for me. The idea is to just begin every day with gratitude and look forward to what it might bring, but also have an over all intention for each ritual and things on my ‘to-do’ list. This provides the structure I need without becoming too rigid, allowing me to adapt to the demands of each day. This also prevents me from feeling guilty and making my morning/ evening rituals a drudgery.

This approach seems to be working so far. Last week, I was in Mumbai and my schedule was all over the place, yet, I was able to be mostly faithful to my rituals – Morning Pages, Scripture reflection, Journaling, Gratitude, etc.

Staying open to the what life brings while holding onto my intentional practices serves as a guiding light, contributing to a more enriching and fulfilling daily experience.

My Intentional Blogging Plan

I’ll be posting on Mondays and doing a monthly round up/ update.

Every week, I plan to join Marsha Ingrao at Always Write with her Wednesday Quotes feature (on Monday for me). Marsha has very kindly organized a weekly, broad list of topics. This will make it easier for me to have a more focused approach to my blogging.

This week, I’m posting for Wednesday Quotes #155: Organizing Goals And Resolutions For WQ 2024.

How’s 2024 treating you so far?

  1. I’m following a book that shifts to a new word focus every two weeks, so I’m attempting to do that with my word Curiosity. It may be too much! ha. I like your monthly focus!

    1. That’s interesting. Will be following to see how that goes for you. I admire how brave you are!

  2. Corinne, welcome aboard in the WQ community of Always Write. I am honored that you chose to join us and make that a part of your regular blogging life. “Leaving space for things to flow,” is key to a happy blogging life, in my opinion. Even so, I love having the schedule of my regular posts and letting that direct my flow of who and how to support others. We can’t do it all. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Marsha. You’ve made my blogging life so much easier. I’m looking forward to this!

  3. I feel Monday is the best day of the week to write. I have set an intention to blog on Mondays too and to read all my favorite bloggers’ posts during the week. I realised some time ago that I was missing this kind of connection in my life in the last few years. My 2024 has been going well so far. I have set up a daily morning ritual of waking up at 5 am to meditate and write in my journal – not anything long, just a few lines to get ready for the day.

    1. I had given up posting on Mondays, but I’m glad to start again. And since you’re one of my favourite bloggers, it works well.
I’m attempting to get up early too – but so far it’s not really working out, but I’ve decided to do the best I can when I do wake up. 🙂

  4. The same works for me. I am too restless to stick to a rigid routine. I know what I want to achieve during the day and then I actually play around with the tasks. It brings more fun and joy to what I have to do and I realise I am actually doing so much more without stressing and fretting over what I “have” to do.

    1. Absolutely right, Sunita. There’s so much more freedom this way. I do what in need to within the day but don’t have to obssess over getting it done by a particular time!

  5. That’s a wonderful plan, Corinne. Going with the flow with the intention of being mindful making room for what matters to you, sounds brilliant. I realize that without a to-do list my day won’t function. But I can’t be too flexible with my schedule because I have a tendency to take it to the other extreme. So I am trying to be mindful on how my day-to-day schedule unfolds. Let’s see how it all works out.

    1. Thanks, Vini. I do have a to-do list too, but I am trying to work on feeling less guilt and more joy. I do understand how this can be different with children. Wishing you joy as you figure out what works best for you !

  6. I love your thought on this Corinne! I don’t always do well, with a crammed schedule either and find myself just rushing to get things accomplished. So I like this approach you’re taking.

    1. Thanks, Kirstin. I think that most of us who work in creative fields have this problem. So far, this is working out for me.

  7. I am focusing more on how I handle both my mental and physical health. With intent and focus, I am making changes that are showing good results. I quit coffee and tea at the start of the year, and it has significantly improved my health. I am also practicing gratitude each day.
Like always, there’s so much value here, Corinne. Thanks for writing this.

    1. I admire your tenacity, Raghav. Quitting tea and coffee is great – and I’m glad that it is showing results in your health. Hugs and best wishes.
