The Discipline Of Gratitude #WorldGratitudeDay #everydaygratitude

The discipline of gratitude is the explicit effort to acknowledge that all I am and have is given to me as a gift of love, a gift to be celebrated with joy. – Henri Nouwen

The Discipline Of Gratitude

Some of you might remember the Gratitude Circle I used to co-host every month.  I stopped doing that and then my attempt to start a regular gratitude post #everydaygratitude too didn’t take off. Today on World Gratitude Day I’m recommitting to the discipline of gratitude. I’m committing myself to a weekly post every Thursday.  It will have an open linky for the week, and you’re most welcome to join.

While the practice of gratitude continues to be a part of my life, I need to be more focused on sharing how being grateful has saved me.

5 things I’m focusing my gratitude on this week are:

  1. The love and support of my husband – he’s been my rock through the last few months.
  2. The generosity of extended family and friends who have reached out in practical ways through my mother’s illness, death and now my father’s illness.
  3. Great house help – hardworking and smiling.
  4. The affectionate presence of my dogs.
  5. Blogging and the blogging community that keeps me going.

What are you grateful for today?
