Change

Sometimes Death seems like a good alternative to Change.
Change requires a willingness to look within myself and become conscious of the things I need to shed.
Change requires a radical shift in my way of thinking.
Change requires stepping out into the great unknown without security.
Above all, change requires Courage.
Courage is what I hesitate to call upon because I’m not sure I have any.
I must find the Courage to truly Change deep within.
I must trust myself to Change even when I don’t have a clear idea of what form this Change will take.

Do you embrace change or run from it?

Today I’m responding to a picture prompt from Claudia Moser of The Story, as part of BlogFEST2012

  1. I’m all for change Corinne!

Yes, change isn’t easy and it DOES require lot of courage and will-power. But once you know that the change is going to do you good, or even if you are willing to take it up to see if it does good – you’re up for a challenge that you take for yourself more than for anything or anyone else.

I’ve written a few posts on change if you remember. Especially the one title ‘Should you change your life’ , which I think you read and commented too. So, there’s nothing better than moving out of our comfort zones and changing – but only if it’s required. I wasn’t the kinds to embrace it either, but then sometime or the other we need to – isn’t it?

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    1. I do remember your recent post on change, Harleena. Embracing change is truly the only way to grow, in my opinion. Sticking on to something that worked in the past but doesn’t now, makes no sense to me. This is true of every aspect of our life.

  2. I like routine and familiarity ! My first instinct is to always run from change. But once I can get my self to embrace it I start enjoying it !

    1. I think the older we get, the harder change seems to get, Ruchira. However, without change and renewal life would be meaningless. It’s always the anticipation of change that causes more problems than the actual change itself.

  3. I have heard this statement that says – change is the only thing constant in life. Yet it takes so much of courage to bring in changes in oneself, being creatures of habit, the only way I think of bringing change in my life is to continue exploring my existence, and create meaning for whatever is happening. I am learning to open myself to change as it is so easy to get fixed in a routine.. …. I admire the courage you have to keep changing and evolving.. thanks for being my inspiration.

  4. Sometimes change is very unnerving specially as it challenges many things which you were used to till now. But once the reality seeps it -it feels to be the best thing to have happened.

I love change as by sunsign I am Geminian and I strongly believe variety is the spice of life. But having said that any change in relationships is the only thing that hurts me the most…!

  5. If only I knew how many times I have died and been born again. It is scary! I have had to change and walk out of my comfort zone to face my worst fears. The past two years has been all about change and facing my fears but I am glad I did it and will continue to do so because today I feel I am a better person for embracing change in my life.

  6. “If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we are not really living.” ~ Gail Sheehy

Because you expressed that this is an area of personal growth you are pursuing, I wanted to share a website with you which has the best little collection of metamorphosis (change) quotes I’ve found for your daily affirmations and incubating pleasure — enjoy! XOXOXO

  7. I feel most of us are scared of change but in reality all of us are changing everyday. There is a constant change in our thought process and our bodies are changing too. Whenever we meet someone new or encounter something new, we change.

It is just that we think change means a moving away from our comfort zone or a thought process. We equate change with trying new things and taking challenges. Worry not dear, you are changing even though you think you are not 🙂 You are changing even while reading this…

  8. It is hard work, change is. But the key to remaining relevant and also to maintain zest in life is change

  9. Change is an inevitable part of life. We either roll with the punches or get knocked down by them. We may face changes kicking and screaming, but I’ve found it is better to relax and enjoy the ride. Do I always do that? No! Sometimes, it takes some convincing and a lot of prayer!
    Great thoughts, dear Corinne!
    Blessings!

  10. I always dread change inspite of waxing eloquence on change being the only constant. Only when I am into the change, do I give myself in and take in the process gradually. If I get to know that change is coming close, I try every possible way to get rid of it but somehow it always gets the better of me 😉

    Joy always,
    Susan

  11. I’m an embracer of change. I don’t want things to stay the same. Actually, they will change anyway, so I mine-as-well go with the flow!

  12. It’s so human to resist change. We fear the unknown. Yet change is inevitable, it’s the one thing we can count on in life, that and death I guess.

  13. I tend to run from change, Corinne. There are things about me that need changing, but I’m such a creature of habit that I don’t change of my own volition. When my beloved and faithful dog of 14 years died recently, I began to see things differently, and that seemed to prompt attitude changes, like the joy of simply being and feeling more appreciative of family and friends, of getting my head out of the clouds and pulling myself down to earth and being content where I am.

  14. Its a fact that change is the essence of life.
We all look forward to change—when it actually happens, we are unable to build enough courage to face it

  15. They say change is the only constant and change we must! We are apprehensive at first as the first step towards change is difficult but a few steps later, it becomes a part of us!

  16. I’ve always thought that change is hard. But without change, life would be pretty boring. And if we don’t change, we’re not far different from death itself.

  17. change is constant….and sometimes we don’t even realize that change is happening, but it is. It is sneaky like that. Other times change is full force–making you spin around in a whirlwind.

Either way, I embrace it–because what other choice do I have. Death is not an option!! LOL 🙂

    Cheers, Jenn.
