Yesterday on Substack, I wrote about the quiet practice of making room for light — in our thoughts, our words, and the small choices that shape our days. Inspired by John Lewis’s reminder that “Every positive thought we pass between us makes room for more light,” I reflect on how light often appears in the ordinary: when I take time to reply thoughtfully to a message instead of dashing off a quick response, when I reach out to a friend just to ask how they’re doing, or when I pause my writing to stretch, breathe, and look outside instead of pushing through the fatigue.
It’s a gentle reminder that even simple acts of awareness and kindness can open the door to light — within us and between us.

So true—simple, thoughtful actions hold incredible power. I loved the imagery of “making room for light”. It’s such a beautiful reminder.
