There are some people I know who go through life with: ‘It’s our s*** luck’. Whatever happens to them in life is attributed to their s*** luck. They make a string of poor choices, despite advice to the contrary. When they have to face the consequences of their choices, they said: ‘What can we do? It’s our s*** luck!” A constant repetition of something like this causes it to become a self-fulfilling prophecy and before they know it they’re drowning in s***!!
Have you noticed, however, that there are some people who always seem to be lucky and some people who seem to be always unlucky? I think we make our own luck.
Professor Richard Wiseman shared his research in the subject of luck in his book [amazon_link id=”1401359418″ target=”_blank” ]The Luck Factor: The Four Essential Principles[/amazon_link]. He is of the opinion that we can all attract good fortune if we train ourselves to do so.
According to him, lucky people tend to follow their intuition a lot more than unlucky people. So while considering the rational side of things when making a decision, they are also guided by their gut feelings. They are attuned their internal alarm bells, that make them reconsider decisions at times.
Lucky people also tend to be open to new ideas, while unlucky people are more creatures of habit. They are more likely to try out different ways of problem-solving and take more initiative.
But most of all lucky people have a positive view of ‘unfortunate’ things that happen to them. They always feel that they are lucky that something worse didn’t happen.
“It’s not what happens to you that determines your happiness. It’s how you think about what happens to you.” ― Andrew Matthews, [amazon_link id=”B007SIGGGY” target=”_blank” ]Happiness Now[/amazon_link]
