Just like your heart and the other organs of your body, your brain too, is an important part of your body. Given that our lives have become so fast paced today, it is super important for us to stay alert and focused as much as we can, and most of us fail to do it and end up wondering why. Here’s helping you do it the right way- include more of these 7 foods that are good for the brain in your diet.

Blueberries have been known to be one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet, and several studies have now shown that consuming more of them can help boost short term memory as well. Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins which help them do that- you can find them in a lot of dark red and purple foods too.


Tomatoes are rich in a compound called lycopene, which has antioxidant action that helps fight the free radicals which are known to be responsible for causing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Try to include more of tomatoes in your meals- its pretty easy too since tomatoes are incredibly versatile.


Turkey contains an amino acid known as tyrosine which helps maintain the levels of dopamine- a neurotransmitter that is important for brain health. Infact, studies have also found that subjects perform better on multitasking and memory tests when their diets included turkey.


Spinach and most other dark green leafy veggies contain good levels of folate and vitamin B12- both of which are known to protect the brain against cognitive decline and other related disorders including dementia. Make it a point to add more of these to your soups and pasta dishes and occasionally a salad too. Spinach is one of my most favourite foods that are good for the brain.

Fatty Fish

Fatty fish tend to be rich in essential fatty acids which the body cannot produce on its own. Including them in your meals can give your body a good dose of both omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids that can increase the levels of serotonin and can help you beat stress in addition to protecting the brain from dementia and other cognitive decline disorders.


This breakfast staple is actually a superfood for your brain, and studies have found that it can help delay brain shrinkage as well. Eggs are a rich source of B vitamins and choline which help improve memory and reduce the risk of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease.


Almonds are packed with vitamin E, which isn’t just great for your skin, but also helps slow down age related deterioration of the brain. Munching on a few of these everyday can help boost your brain health super quick.
