Life Noticed : The Ordinary

As I sat in the mall for an Artist’s Date a few months ago, I found the experience to be interesting and educational. I need to write the little things that happen in my life. They’re pretty ordinary, but still worth paying attention to.

Life Noticed : The Ordinary

One thing I’ve noticed while cooking is the way the mustard seeds sizzle and pop in hot oil, and the same hot oil doesn’t do that to the cumin. What’s interesting is seeing the variety of reactions to the same circumstance. It depends on the person. Am I the mustard seed that pops? Or the cumin seed that quietly burns? Which one is better? I can’t decide right now, but it’s something that bears thinking about.

And then there’s the ordinary, everyday business at the bird feeders in our garden patch. On some days the birds eat like there’s no tomorrow. And on other days they are hardly eating at all. Do they find other places to go to? Or do they practice intermittent fasting? Or are the visitors a totally different flock on different days. Not sure I’ll ever find the answer to this. But it’s nice to think that they have other places to eat at and aren’t totally dependent on us.

There’s so much of interest and curiousity in our ordinary days, why do we always look out for and wait for the extraordinary?
